Patient Name: Mr David Johnson
Following a serious stroke Mr David Johnson came to us principally because of a lack of available stroke care in the public sector. He was also attracted to the structure of the practice and its links with the Esporta Health and Fitness Club, in particular the swimming facilities which are free to PhysioElite clients undergoing treatment.
David was unable to walk any distance as a result of his stroke and had an unstable and weak shoulder, a complete breakdown in confidence and balance, and was unable to sustain any meaningful exercise regime.
After David's first consultation the following programme was arranged:
David has been a client for over two years now, and can successfully walk over a mile. This contrasts with the 20-30 steps he could originally manage. He uses his stick far less, and his confidence has returned, enabling him to live an active social life. He is far stronger, and as a result is much less dependent upon his wife.

Patient Name: Ms Monica Cave
Following an injury sustained in July 2007 from over extending her shoulder during a pilates class the pain was so severe that it was affecting Monica's driving, sleeping and general wellbeing.
Monica had volunteered to become a puppy walker for the Guide Dog Association but had been unable to start as she couldn't lift her left arm and found general everyday tasks either hard or impossible due to the pain she was experiencing.
In January 2008 Monica came to us in an attempt to get herself well again. After her first consultation she was given several courses of treatment and an exercise programme to perform at home.
However after one month we felt that the progress was much slower than we'd expected and recommended that a second opinion and x-ray may be beneficial.
In March 2008 Monica had an operation on her shoulder by keyhole surgery and manipulation under anaesthetic. James Tomkies observed the operation so he could see the mechanics of the shoulder from the inside and discuss her rehabilitation with the surgeon.
The rehabilitation progress was slow and painful post surgery but after each visit Monica felt a marked improvement. As a result Monica has responded well to her treatment and intends to start puppy walking as soon as possible.

What our clients say about our service
"James, thanks for getting me pain free. I'm continuing with the exercise programme you gave me, and everything is progressing well. I even played football the other week and had no ill effects in my back or neck afterwards.
As you know this is my 3rd different course of treatment with you over the last 6-7 years and I would like to thank you and your staff for their professional nature and you especially, for the speed at which I was back to full health and fitness."
Mr S Kerton
"I wanted to write and thank you for the exceptional physio service and advice you have provided to me over the past 12 months.
Firstly I would like to express my appreciation at finding a physiotherapist who is prepared to take rock climbing-related injuries seriously. I have found through past experience that many physiotherapists are unaware of the level of training and dedication required from intermediate and elite level climbers; I would like to thank you for your engagement and professionalism in this regard.
I would also like to commend you on the holistic approach you take to rehabilitation. It has been invaluable to me to learn about the causes behind the injuries I have sustained, and to be able to look proactively at prevention rather than simply treating symptoms.
I have found your diagnoses to be spot-on, and your prescribed treatment methods to be very effective. I'm aiming to break into the 8a grade during the next 12 months, and am very grateful for your help in getting me there.
Mr T Nicholson
"I was reassured immediately by James' friendly, positive and professional approach to his work. He gave me a clear explanation of what he felt I had done to my shoulder and what steps we could take together to improve it.
James has a good sense of humour and despite the pain during treatment we had many laughs as I threatened to stick pins in a model of him to get my own back!
I hope to be puppy walking as soon as I am fit thanks to the professional guidance and support from James and his staff and my determination to succeed!"
