Hydrate

Following simple Health & Wellbeing Tips can make a big difference, and staying hydrated is one of the most important. Water makes up 60% of our bodies and 90% of our brain tissue, so it is not surprising that it plays a central part in our lives. We need water to hydrate our skin, digest food, and enable our kidneys to flush out waste. It is also important to replace the water we lose in sweat, especially if it is hot or we are exercising.

Water is so crucial to our brains that even losing 1-2% of body water is enough to impair thinking. Drinking more water could also help with weight management. Having a pint of water before each meal fills your stomach and may lead to consuming fewer calories. Here are some key reasons why hydration is important:

1 It regulates your body temperature

2 Supports important bodily functions including digestion and circulation

3 Promotes healthy skin

4 Supports exercise

At our physio clinic bristol, we often remind patients that if you feel thirsty, you are probably already dehydrated. A general recommendation is around 2 litres of water for men and 1.6 litres for women. A good rule of thumb for proper hydration is that you should be urinating 7-8 times a day.
