Middle Aged Warriors

One of the questions I often get asked is about preventative self-care for middle-aged male ‘Warriors’. Generally, men in this category behave like they are 30 when they are 50. They are often resistant to seeking help to understand how they can best manage themselves. This is a real interest of mine, and I would say the advice falls into several categories both in terms of medical management and physical management, including areas like hand physiotherapy where early intervention can prevent long-term issues.

A very common mistake is for males in this age group not to be aware of their own blood pressure. You can purchase an excellent blood pressure monitor for £50 now. I would recommend, if you are unaware of your own blood pressure and you are in your 50s, getting one and taking your own measurements 3 to 4 times weekly initially. It is often helpful to take a morning and evening measurement to see the differences. Monitoring blood pressure is also an important aspect of men’s physiotherapy, as it plays a key role in managing overall health and physical performance. There are many excellent apps now that allow you to record your measurements on your phone.

Please remember that knowing your blood pressure could prevent serious illness such as strokes and heart disease, to which men in this age group are particularly prevalent. There are other factors such as your cholesterol levels, which are also important. In addition, maintaining a healthy lifestyle through Middle-Aged Fitness & Body Fat management is crucial for overall health.
