Solving your Tennis Elbow

Tennis elbow, or to give it its correct term Lateral Epicondylitis, is an inflammation of the tendon inserting into the outside of the elbow joint.

It can be a really troublesome injury that prevents the lifting of any heavy object and causes problems with sustained grip, such as when driving and gripping the steering wheel. Thankfully, Treatments for Tennis & Golfer’s Elbow can help alleviate pain and improve function. These treatments may include physiotherapy techniques, strengthening exercises, and therapies like shockwave treatment, all designed to reduce inflammation and promote healing in the affected tendons.
The protocols for treatment are different depending on the time period that the patient has had the injury.

If your injury has lasted 4-12 weeks generally deep tissue massage, interferential electrotherapy and/or ultrasound can be helpful in resolving the injury then a graduated loading protocol is required.

If the injury has been going on for longer than 12 weeks, then Shockwave Therapy is generally the best solution and can be either Radial or Focused depending on the severity of the injury.

Also, a tennis elbow support can be really helpful in returning the patient to normal activity without the tissues being threatened, and incorporating breathing exercises can further aid in reducing muscle tension and improving recovery.
